Holy Spirit As Comforter

Yet according to i john 2 1 in a sense jesus is still our comforter so the holy spirit is not exactly a substitute but an additional one to run to our side. However in john 14 jesus speaks of this comforter. It is interesting to note that the word comforter was also used for legal aid or the counsel for the defense.

The holy spirit is our comforter he leads us guides us strengthens us and encourages us. The comforter is also called the spirit holy ghost and holy spirit. Here is some of what is said about the comforter in the bible.

John 14 17 says the holy spirit will dwell with believing israel and shall be in them contrary to popular belief the indwelling spirit is not unique to our dispensation of grace. The spirit intercedes the act of mediating between two parties with the goal to reconcile those who differ or contend for us.
